Classes
Introduction to StageCraft has students learning all of the design and production elements for Theatre. Students learn and will produce work for the basics of costuming, makeup, set design & construction, painting, lighting, sound, props, marketing & publicity, and business operations of the production through stage and house roles and responsibilities. All Intro students will have the opportunity to take the Safety Training course and graduate into the Advanced StageCraft course by the end of each term. 1 term course.
Advanced StageCraft has students working backstage to produce theatrical productions and gain experience in stage management, costume and makeup, set construction, lighting design, sound management, and business operations of the production through publicity, ticket management, and house operations. All advanced students must complete and pass the Introduction to StageCraft course and receive written permission from the Theatre Director in order to register for Advanced StageCraft. Full-year course.
Introduction to Acting exposes students to introductory acting techniques and a variety of theatre genres through on-our-feet curriculum. Students will be introduced to acting basics and vocabulary, improvisational theatre & ensemble building through games, workshopping monologues & duo scenes, and ending the term with learning and executing stage combat. 1 term course.
Advanced Acting exposes students to more advanced and in-depth acting techniques. Students practice these skills through performance and workshopping of theatrical pieces and the development of their own Actors' Books. Students will accumulate monologues, duo scenes, and musical theatre songs, and produce their own One Act play. Additionally, students will research and produce a City Research Project to apply their acting skills and drive to succeed in any given city as a working, professional actor. Full-year course.
Theatre Leadership is for students who have successfully completed Scene Study Acting, Directing or Production Stagecraft and have instructor approval. This course is designed for students who have demonstrated leadership ability within the Theatre Arts program. Students will have the opportunity to hone their craft by teaching beginning students, as well as delving into more advanced skills within their chosen area of theatre focus.
